About Good Luck Pottery

Good Luck Pottery is owned and operated by Joycie Yu Romano (aka me!).

How I got started

I fell into pottery in November 2024 when my husband (Cody) and I took a class at Seatown Pottery in Greenlake. I’d tried pottery a few times before, but it never quite “clicked” until this class (snaps to John!). Once it did, I was hooked.

I signed up for another class right away, started going to open studio constantly, and before long, became a full-fledged member. Seatown Pottery is also known as 24hr Pottery and I definitely took advantage of that. I was there most nights after dinner (free parking after 8pm) and usually stayed until way past bedtime. Cody quickly realized he’d lost me to clay.

For my birthday, he helped me clean out the garage and surprised me with my own wheel. A few months later, I added a kiln. Suddenly, I had a full pottery studio at home.

After making more pieces than we could possibly keep or gift, I decided it was time to start selling. That’s how Good Luck Pottery was born.
